Personalized Stem Cell Therapy: Why Protocols Matter

Stem cell therapy is a rapidly advancing area of regenerative medicine that offers hope for many conditions. Yet, not all stem cells are alike and generic treatments often fall short. At the Stem Cell Institute, we emphasize personalized, protocol-driven care using our proprietary Golden Cells™, ensuring that you receive the best chance for meaningful results.

At Stem Cell Institute, we recognize that not all stem cells are the same. Every treatment we provide is personalized, with tailored dosing, delivery methods, and ongoing post-care. From VIP treatment to continuous follow-ups, our comprehensive approach prioritizes safety, comfort, and meaningful long-term outcomes for every patient.

Not All Stem Cells Are Created Equal

Not all stem cells are created equal, and this concept is at the core of our work at Stem Cell Institute. Although the term mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) is often used broadly, there can be dramatic differences in these cells depending on their source and molecular characteristics, including their:

  • Potency
  • Functionality
  • Therapeutic effectiveness

Our founder, Neil Riordan (PA, PhD), emphasizes this distinction by noting that “I like to say that an MSC is not an MSC. They are not all created equal….Some perform better than others.”

Through years of clinical research, our team has discovered that certain MSCs have the potential to produce far better results in patients than others. By carefully analyzing successful outcomes, we have identified unique populations of human umbilical cord tissue-derived MSCs (hUCT-MSCs) with exceptional properties.

These specially selected cells—called Golden Cells™—demonstrate superior molecular profiles linked to greater regenerative and therapeutic potential. They’re unique to Stem Cell Institute and cannot be found at any other clinic worldwide.

Their benefits include helping to:

  • Reduce inflammation
  • Modulate the immune system
  • Secrete molecules that support tissue repair across the body

This discovery highlights that effectiveness depends not just on having stem cells, but on having the right cells with proven biological advantages.

Why We Use Personalized Treatment Protocolsdoctor and patient discussing personalized stem cell therapy during a consultation

Every patient’s condition and response to stem cell therapy is unique, which is why Stem Cell Institute designs personalized treatment protocols. Furthermore, no two cases are exactly alike. This means that a standardized approach would not deliver the best outcomes.

Treatment plans are tailored to the severity and type of condition. Different administration routes are strategically chosen depending on your needs, including:

  • Intravenous
  • Intramuscular
  • Intrathecal
  • Intra-articular

For example, a frailty of aging may involve three intravenous infusions. However, an issue like a sports injury may require a combination of intravenous treatments and localized injections into affected areas. These injections ensure that the MSCs remain at the site of the injury and release factors that reduce inflammation and associated pain. Intra-articular injections deliver medication directly into the joint space. In each case, everything is purposeful, detailed, and studied so that every condition and its treatment is specialized.

Dosage is also carefully considered, with most patients receiving around 120–140 million cells. This is divided across multiple days so that the body isn’t overwhelmed and the cells are at their most effective. Every case is reviewed to ensure safety, scientific rationale, and the highest chance of achieving meaningful, long-lasting improvements.
