Method of inducing immune tolerance via blood/lymph flow-restricted bone marrow transplantation
Askenasy, Nadir; Tel Aviv, Israel
This invention describes a method of inducing tolerance to a transplant that has been transplanted from a donor to a subject. Myeloreduction or myeloablation treatment is administered to the subject, followed by a restricting of the outflow of blood and/or lymph from a portion of the circulatory system of the subject, followed by the administration of a dose of bone marrow cells derived from the donor to a body part which is delimiting that particular portion of the circulatory system. Specific mechanisms which induce greater homing of the bone marrow cells in the tissue, and which thereby induce greater tolerance of the transplant, are further disclosed.
