This method of growing porcine primordial germ cells employs a novel cell culture in which the density of the feeder cells in the culture medium, in combination with a fibroblast growth factor, constitute a highly effective rate of differentiation. Specific methods of isolation and transformation of the primordial germ cells from the cultured cell lines into transgenic pigs are described.
