Described herein is a chemotactic polynucleotide, methods and uses thereof. The invention relates to a human chemotactic polypeptide, the DNA and RNA encoding it, and a procedure for producing such a polypeptide by recombinant techniques. Further disclosed are polypeptide antagonists and diagnostic assays for identifying mutations in nucleic acid sequences encoding a polypeptide. Therapeutic applications include uses in stem cell mobilization, myeloprotection, neuronal protection, wound healing, the treatment of parasitic infection, the treatment of tumors, the regulation of hematopoiesis, and in the diagnosis of conditions associated with the expression of the chemotactic polypeptide.
