Described herein are a novel human stem cell antigen 2 polypeptide and polynucleotide, methods and uses thereof. The invention relates to a human stem cell antigen 2 polypeptide and DNA (RNA) encoding the polypeptide, and a procedure for producing the polypeptide by recombinant techniques. Therapeutic applications include uses in gene therapy, in the stimulation of thymocyte maturation and differentiation, in the treatment of hyper-acute rejection, and in the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease and inflammation.
