Directed differentiation of human embryonic cells

This invention involves novel methods for mapping and directing a pathway of differentiation of a population of human embryonic stem cells into neuronal cells. The chemically dissociated embyoid bodies are exposed to exogenous factors which enrich the culture for the specific cell type that is desired. Methods of aggregation of the hES to form the embryoid bodies are also described, as are methods of dissociating the embryoid bodies into single cells.
