Apparatus and methods for preparing an implantable graft

Described herein is a kit for preparing an implantable composite bone marrow graft. The invention relates to a porous, biocompatible, sterile substrate and a container configured to retain the substrate and to permit the flow of a cell suspension, such as a bone marrow aspirate suspension, through the substrate. Further disclosed are methods by which the composite bone graft contains a greater number of connective tissue progenitor cells per unit volume than that found in the original bone marrow aspirate. Therapeutic examples employing such a composite bone marrow graft are provided.
